New Indie, Drama Republic launches

Long-time colleagues, Greg Brenman and Roanna Benn leave Tiger Aspect to launch Drama Republic Ltd – a dedicated Drama Company.

At Tiger Aspect, Greg and Roanna were behind over 350 hours of television and helped create hit shows such as Ripper Street, Secret Diary of a Call Girl, Prisoners’ Wives, Robin Hood, Teachers, Murphy’s Law, Bafta award winning White Girl, Omagh and the international film sensation Billy Elliot. Upcoming series are Prisoners’ Wives 2, Peaky Blinders and  E4’s highly publicised My Mad Fat Diary .

Now, through DRAMA REPUBLIC, Greg and Roanna will continue to specialise in popular television of the highest quality. They will also continue to executive produce Peaky Blinders and Prisoners’ Wives 2.

Brenman says: “At the heart of every successful show is a strong bond between writer and producer. Having been fortunate to work with some of the UK’s leading writers, we will ensure that creative partnerships become the foundation of Drama Republic.”

Benn says: “Our aim is to make DR an environment where creative people – writers, producers, directors, actors – can do their best work and get the support and reward they want and deserve.  Working with the commissioners from all channels our ambition is to make high-quality, distinctive, entertaining and gripping dramas that will reach the widest possible audience.”

DRAMA REPUBLIC has agreed a first-look distribution deal with BBC Worldwide.

Helen Jackson, Managing Director, Content & Production, BBC Worldwide says: “From Robin Hood to Ripper Street, Greg and his team have a tremendous knack in developing shows that have a lot of international appeal.  We couldn’t be more excited about what lies ahead for Greg and Roanna’s Drama Republic”
