Suranne Jones wins Leading Actress BAFTA for Doctor Foster

Drama Republic could not be more thrilled that Suranne Jones has won in the Leading Actress category at the British Academy Television Awards 2016.

The winners were announced at a star studded ceremony hosted by Graham Norton at the Royal Festival Hall in London on Sunday 8 May 2016 and televised on the BBC.

Suranne won for her eponymous role as Dr Gemma Foster in the hit BBC One drama scripted by Mike Bartlett. Doctor Foster was the highest rating new show in all genres in 2015 – propelled to its success not least by Suranne’s gripping performance as a wife who suspects her husband of infidelity.

A second series of Doctor Foster will begin filming later this year.
