2013 - 2015
Established in 2013 by Greg Brenman, Roanna Benn and Jude Liknaitzky, Drama Republic is a leading independent production company specialising in high quality TV Drama.
Hitting the ground running with Doctor Foster, the highest-rated new show of 2015; other early successes included My Mad Fat Diary for E4 in association with Tiger Aspect, and The Honourable Woman for BBC/Sundance TV starring Maggie Gyllenhaal which scooped up multiple awards including at the Golden Globes, the BAFTAs and the RTS awards.
2016 - 2019
Continuing on from previous successes, Drama Republic went on to make Wanderlust for BBC One, Black Earth Rising, a co-production between BBC Two and Netflix, a second season of Doctor Foster, and Pure, an adaption of the bestselling memoir by Rose Cartwright, for Channel 4.
2020 - 2023
In 2020 Drama Republic adapted David Nicholls’ bestselling novel Us alongside the ensemble drama Life by Mike Barlett for the BBC. 2021 saw the release of the Netflix Original series The Irregulars written by Tom Bidwell, and in November 2022, Hugo Blick’s The English released on BBC and Amazon Prime to five star reviews. Shortly after, the adaptation of Sara Collins’ award-winning novel The Confessions of Frannie Langton released on ITVX.
Current Productions
Recent productions include David Ireland’s Belfast-set dark comedy The Lovers for Sky/Sundance, starring Johnny Flynn and Róisín Gallagher as Seamus and Janet, two very different people who instantly clash – and yet somehow find themselves drawn to one another. Gallagher has recently received a BAFTA nomination for Best Female Performance in Comedy for her portrayal of Janet. All six episodes are now streaming on Sky and NOWTV.
Nicole Taylor’s adaptation for TV of David Nicholls’ beloved novel One Day starring Ambika Mod and Leo Woodall, was released 8th of February and has since stayed in Netflix top 10s across the world, receiving rave reviews for cast and crew across print, online, and social media. All 14 episodes can now be streamed only on Netflix.
Drama Republic is thrilled to be working next with BAFTA-winning writer Sally Wainwright, following the phenomenal success of Happy Valley, on new drama Riot Women.
